This course is structured to present evaluation and treatment of the spine; including the lumbopelvic and cervico-thoracic regions, and the upper extremity including shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand regions, utilizing advanced orthopaedic skills. Emphasis will be placed on enhancing clinical decision making skills and integrating manual therapy skills within the overall plan of care for the patients. Lectures, laboratory and clinical sessions will be used to develop competency in the pathomechanics, assessment and intervention of musculoskeletal conditions that affect regions of the spine and the upper extremities.

This course will include an introduction to the principles of musculoskeletal evaluation, assessment and management of the joints of the lower extremities, and bone fractures including their normal and abnormal healing process and complications. Emphasis will be placed on the musculoskeletal evaluation and evidence-based management of different pathological, surgical, and traumatic conditions and movement dysfunction related to the lower extremities. Indications, contraindications, and precautions of different physical therapy techniques will be discussed. Lecture and laboratory sessions are used to develop skills in knowledge of pathomechanics, patient evaluation, clinical decision-making, treatment planning, and implementation for patients with lower extremity musculoskeletal dysfunction.

This course provides an overview of current research and its priorities in Jordan related to neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. A particular emphasis is placed on the ongoing research within the Faculty of Rehabilitation Sciences (UoJ) and other similar schools in Jordan. The course will also relate physiotherapy research in Jordan to the regional and international research trends in rehabilitation. Seminars and lectures will be given by staff members, invited speakers, and enrolled senior students. The course facilitates student learning through seminars, discussion, and coursework.

This course will focus on the most common sport-related injuries that may affect the lower extremity including hip, knee, and ankle joints along with muscular injuries and tendinopathies. This course will include evaluation of the conditions and implementation of appropriate rehabilitation programs. Emphasis will be placed on enhancing decision making skills and integrating manual therapy skills within the treatment plan for the patients.

This course critically evaluates the assessment and management of the complexity of the musculoskeletal dysfunction of the body to enable evidence-based management. This is achieved through a focus on the development of the clinical reasoning and clinical expertise. Each region of the body is considered critically by integrating all approaches to manipulative physiotherapy.

This course is a continuation of clinical practice II course in which students are expected to advance the scope of their clinical practice skills. Students will practice all the skills they gained in immersive clinical and field placements in a variety of settings. Students will be assigned with the different professional teams affiliated with The University of Jordan. In this clinical course, students are expected to continue to improve the skills gained during clinical practice I and II courses and will develop clinical reasoning skills, apply the concepts of ethics and injury prevention, and will reflect on what they learned and practice under the supervision of skillful athletic therapists.

This course provides students with the opportunity to practice the skills they gained in immersive clinical and field placements in a variety of settings. Students will be assigned to federations and professional sport teams. In this clinical course, students will practice the skills of assessment and management of conditions encountered with the sports teams. In addition, students are expected to reflect on what they have learned during all previous courses, apply the concepts of ethics and emergency care, and practice under the supervision of their instructors.
